Creating a rhythm in football does not require specific workouts and drills. The goal of finding a rhythm is to let it happen naturally. When team members individually take on the responsibility of accountability for the team as a whole, rhythm naturally occurs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Teach football players basic rhythmic skills. Incorporate these exercises into the daily workout regiment.
Step2
Generate a team atmosphere—promote positive feedback instead of negative between coaches and players.
Step3
Create a training environment that has players eating and sleeping together.
Step4
Schedule team activities outside of the training environment—this will help the players get to know one another.
Step5
Engage all backup players in practices with the first string team. Injuries can occur anytime—it is important to have second-string players comfortable when they need to step up.
Step6
Solve any personality issues off the field. No matter how players feel about each other off the field, they must come together on the field.
Step7
Influence players—teach them how to behave as a professional on and off the field.

Tips & Warnings

  • A football player must leave all personal issues on the sidelines if he is to become a part of the rhythm of the team.
  • In-fighting ruins a football team.
