How to Camouflage Your Fishing Line

Some people think that fish don't notice color. However, an experienced fisherman (and many professional fishermen) will tell you that's not the case. If you wear certain colors that stand out when you're fishing, the fish are scared away. This holds true with your fishing line. So, camouflage it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Notice that a braided fishing line will eventually fade due to sunlight and wear and tear on the line. This causes reflections in the water. The white fibers of the line stand out in the water, scaring the fish away. It is possible to use a camo technique to take care of this problem.
Step2
Use an inexpensive way to camo a fishing line. Purchase a black permanent marker with the widest tip. Cut a small V in the end of the tip so that the braided fishing line can slide through it. Pulling the fishing line through the marker will darken the line so that the white is covered up. Allow the color to dry on the fishing line before putting it in the water.
Step3
Try another method to camouflage your fishing line by using food coloring. Darker food coloring may work well for covering up the white fibers of your braided fishing line. (Stay away from red or orange as these colors scare fish away.) Saturate the fishing line with the food coloring and allow it to dry.
Step4
Take emergency measures to use camo on your fishing line if you're out fishing and notice white showing on your braided fishing line. You can use mud to stain your line a darker color. Mud works great as a camouflage, making the line difficult for the fish to see.
