Christmas is a great time to visit New York City. From decorative displays to seasonal events, the holidays are a great time to window shop in Gotham. Enjoy holiday highlights and make all the right stops while Christmas shopping in New York City.

  1. Step 1

    Window shop at New York City's department stores and delight in their annual holiday displays. Each store creates beautiful windows to celebrate the season and attract visitors to their store. Some crowd favorites are Macy's, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor.

  2. Step 2

    Find or create a map for a holiday walking tour that includes great shopping spots, window dressings and fabulous holiday light displays throughout the city.

  3. Step 3

    Be a kid again by visiting the FAO Schwartz toy store on 5th Avenue. A tour of this amazing store is worth the trip even if you don't have kids to buy for. The store features toys and collectibles for every age group, including adults.

  4. Step 4

    Knock general items off your Christmas list by visiting some of the Big Apple's most well-known stores. Coach has authentic leather bags, handbags and accessories with a lifetime guarantee, Crate & Barrel provides stylish household goods, Henri Bendel is an exquisite department store, MoMA Design Store contains many art-related gifts and Kate's Paperie has beautiful stationery.

  5. Step 5

    Find funky and more unusual items in boutiques located around SoHo. Find specialty clothing stores, modern, original and retro household items, and stores dedicated to a variety of hobbies and interests.

  6. Step 6

    Shop Midtown for a variety of options. Buy event tickets at Madison Square Garden, or head to the Warner Brothers Store to find somthing for that someone who loves the big screen.
