How to Spend the Day in Midtown Manhattan in New York City

Nicknamed the "city that never sleeps," there are many things to do while spending a day in Midtown Manhattan. This area contains some of the most famous tourist attractions that New York City is known for.

1. Start out at Times Square. This maze of bright lights, ads and nonstop commotion is the site of the largest New Year's Eve celebrations. A mix of entertainment, shopping and dining meet along these sidewalks, illustrating the epitome of big city life.

2. Check out Broadway and possibly steal a show. The theatres and performances on Broadway in NYC are some of the very best in the world. There is always something new and great to watch, and you don't have to have tickets in advance.

3. Stroll Central Park and its zoo. Acre upon acre of lavish greens and twisting walking trails mark Central Park. The park is a quiet getaway from busy city life, and welcomes walkers, bikers and those just wanting to relax on a blanket on the park's greens.

4. Enjoy Rockefeller Center. This landmark is known for its enormous lighted Christmas tree, ice skating, Top of the Rock Observation Deck and Radio City Music Hall in addition to numerous shopping and dining opportunities.

5. Go straight to the top of the Empire State Building. Breathtaking views of the Big Apple can be seen from the top, day and night.
