How to Buy a Teenager a Gift

Teens are hard to buy for. They're at an age where their interests are constantly changing and they're often in search of what is "cool." Research what kids that age are into before buying a gift. Learn the teen's personality and hobbies to buy a great gift.

1. Consider money. It isn't personal, but it will get them exactly what they want or need. Every teen has something they can spend money on.

2. Get technical. iPods and a host of mp3 players, computer gadgets and cell phones are items teens are obsessed with.

3. Give them style for their bedroom or dorm room. Teens want their space to feel personalized and somewhat grown up. A trendy chair, lamp or other decorative detail can be a great gift that they'll use everyday.

4. Purchase them some tunes. A gift certificate to a music store or an iTunes gift card show that you value their interest in music, while leaving the actual choice in purchase up to them.

5. Make a goodie basket. An uncommon gift, they'll love the creativity of unexpected surprises. Fill them with snacks and junk food, school supplies, decorative items, books, CDs, DVDs and clothing.

6. Be sporty. Are they active in an athletic sport at school or part of a club with a specific interest? Get them clothing related to the sport, a book about the sport, or even a movie. Better yet, a professional jersey for their favorite player, or tickets to a pro game will be a hit.
