The waltz is a romantic and classic dance that has stood the test of time and still dazzles both dancers and spectators alike. However, learning to waltz can be tricky without proper instruction. Dance classes can be expensive and time consuming but learning how to waltz doesn't have to be a chore. Learn to waltz online so you can master the waltz at your own pace.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
First figure out whether you have at least 30 minutes out of your day to dedicate to learning the waltz. Recruit a friend or partner to help you learn the waltz in the privacy of your own home.
Step2
Do a little research on the history of the waltz to get a feel for the dance and its traditions. Watch a few online videos of professionals doing the waltz to get you excited about learning the steps.
Step3
Search your web browser for websites that offer waltz instruction for free as there are a few. Look over the site to get a feel for how the lessons are laid out and about how long it will take you to learn.
Step4
Check to see whether the website has music built into the lessons or whether it simply shows you the steps. Clear an area large enough near your computer so you can have ample space to waltz freely without obstruction.
Step5
Watch the lessons first before doing anything, get a feel for how it should look while you're doing it before trying it. Practice your portion of the steps independently before trying it with a partner.
Step6
Practice your online lessons at least once a day and only move on once you feel comfortable in the current lesson. Perform your moves in front of a mirror or go out and try your new steps in public to test your comprehension.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose waltz music that is not too fast for your difficulty level. Often waltzes are easier at the slower tempos.
  • Pick a website that has very clear cut diagrams or tables for footwork. The more complicated the diagrams, the less comprehension you will gain.
