Step1
Train your physicality first at least 6 to 12 months prior to beginning to choreograph a routine. Enlist the help of a trainer or fitness veteran to condition your body to its peak status.
Step2
Visit other fitness competitions and take note of how other people prepare their routines. Write down things that you find attractive and beneficial and things not to do during a routine, as this list will help you when preparing your own routine.
Step3
Know that mandatory poses necessary for the competition you are competing in. Learn the basic NPC mandatory fitness moves that most competitions follow. These moves are: one arm push-up, straddle hold, leg extension hold, full split front, high kick and full split side.
Step4
Enroll in some dance courses and learn how to move your body in a flattering and attractive way while maintaining composure and control over your muscularity. Make the most out of your routine and emphasize your best attributes. Carefully construct each move to showcase a different portion of your body.
Step5
Choose music that suits your body type and know your physical limitations that may apply to your musical choice. For instance, choosing a high tempo song that requires quick movement may not be good for someone with a larger frame.
Step6
Work on your routine in front of a three-way mirror. Break it into sections and perfect each section. Practice good form on all of your mandatory moves and add personality and individuality to them to make you to stand out.
Step7
Pay special attention to the time limit on the routine. Most routines are to be no longer than 2 minutes long. Include any acrobatics or gymnastic moves you can do well, but do not overdo it or work above your skill level.
