A single scull is a thin, long boat designed for only one person. The person propels the boat by rowing with two oars, one in each hand. Single scull races pit such rowers against one another. If you're interested in finding a single scull race, read the information below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Join a rowing association or club. Many organizations hold or sponsor annual races and inform their members of other sculling events around the country. A club is also a great way to meet and network with other sculling enthusiasts who will share race information with you.
Step2
Contact the YMCA or local health clubs in your community to find a nearby rowing program. The instructor or students involved in the program can direct you to races they know of in the area.
Step3
Get in touch with your local or regional university and find out whether or not they have a rowing team. If they do, they may be able to provide you with single scull race information.
Step4
Visit your local rowing specialty store. Knowledgeable salespeople will have information about the area's racing scene. They may also post flyers and additional information about single scull races in the region.
Step5
Go online. Many organizations, including the US Rowing Organization and the Masters Rowing Association, feature event calendars on their websites.
Step6
Urge race organizers and sponsors to advertise their races prominently. Be prepared with a list of suggested publications in which they can publicize an upcoming event. Offer a directory of your local rowing clubs so the race promoters have a way to contact scullers in your area.
