Golf is a sport that is as much mental as it is physical. Being big and strong doesn't guarantee that you can be a good golfer. However, if you can better your mental game in golf, you can make strides to improving your all-around golf game.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Study and understand the rules of golf. Golf is a game with a number of rules and regulations that you must be aware of so you can best understand how to handle any given situation.
Step2
Play the course first with your mind. Without understanding the golf course, you won't be prepared to play a good round of golf.
Step3
Start on the first hole and mentally prepare your startegy for each hole. Mentally prepare for how you will handle both the best case scenarios and the worst case scenarios.
Step4
Remain calm while you are on the golf course. Golf is a sport where you simply cannot be in a hurry. You must take your time, remain calm and focus on the task at hand.
Step5
Concentrate on how to handle adversity instead of dwelling on what went wrong. Being positive and upbeat is a big part of having a solid mental game in golf.
Step6
Keep notes on what you think you can improve upon and work toward bettering your approach on a daily basis. After each hole, write down on a notepad any anxiety or other mental obstacles you faced.
Step7
Register in a golf school that aims to improve your mental approach. The Golf Psych website has classes available that come highly recommended.
Step8
Set goals for your future performance. Plan how much you want to improve your golf game days, months and even years down the line by keeping a notebook of long and short term goals.
