You've made the decision to take up golf and now you're ready to move on to the next big step: determining what golf equipment to purchase. What you put into your golf bag will directly effect your final score and the amount of pleasure you'll have while playing the game.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for a half set of golf clubs, as they are commonly called. Ideal for the beginning golfer, a half set is a perfect way to try out clubs while you learn more about the game and your style of play.

  2. Step 2

Add some golf balls. You can choose to use a specific color or brand, whichever you prefer. Also include some tees for your use. Some golf courses supply golf balls while others do not.

  3. Step 3

Choose a driver. Often called a one wood, the driver is the longest golf club with the biggest head. It's function is to hit the golf ball off of the tee and it is one of the most important pieces of golf equipment used.

  4. Step 4

Include a good selection of irons. Typically eight clubs in total, a set of irons begins with a three iron goes to the pitching wedge. Many golfers choose to skip the three and four irons altogether, but the number of irons you carry will depend on your personal preference.

  5. Step 5

Consider comfort items, such as a hand towel to dry your hands and golf grips. You might also add pain reliever for those stressful times when the golf equipment doesn't save you from a poor shot.
