How to Build a Motorcross Bike

Motorcross is known as an X-game, as it offers extreme riding with exceptionally skilled riders in a large span of events worldwide. With the fan base and following extreme motorcross has built, there are many kids, teens and adults building motorcross bikes of their own and getting involved in the sport.

  1. Step 1

    Purchase a motorcross bike. To decide the right bike for you the following information is needed: height and weight of the rider, class you will be competing in (this is usually defined by engine size) and skill level of the rider. Sometimes, budget can come into play as well.

  2. Step 2

    Decide on the modifications you want to make on the bike and purchase the replacement racing parts. This usually includes the suspension, tires, exhaust system and handlebars.

  3. Step 3

    Stock up on additional parts and accessories. These are items that would possibly need to be repaired or adjusted at the track. This should include spark plugs, air filters, clutch and brake levers, handlebars and any other items you may need. Make sure to bring the appropriate tools to repair or adjust the bike.

  4. Step 4

    Test and prime all parts before installing them on the bike. This should include making sure they fit your bike appropriately and securely. If any modifications need to be done to the part, this should be done by a professional machine shop.
