To the naked eye, nudist clubs have always operated under the radar. However, thanks to the Internet, it's easy to access a wealth of information on the concept behind nudist clubs, where they can be found and how to join one. If joining a nudist club is your thing, follow these steps so you fit in like a seasoned pro.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a local chapter. See the Resources section for the link to The American Association for Nude Recreation's website. This is a good place to begin searching by state and city. Call or email the contact person for more information on the particular chapter as each chapter is as unique as its members are.

  2. Step 2

Call ahead to schedule a first visit. During this call, ask many questions. Some issues you may want to touch on are whether the club is clothing optional or clothes-free, whether they permit children and what activities are available for children and if they have a singles policy. Also inquire about bringing pets, if desired.

  3. Step 3

Know what to expect on your first visit. Most clubs allow first-timers to remain clothed during their fist visit, at least until they become comfortable going nude. People of all ages are most likely going to be present—infants through elderly. Body types and sizes range across the board, but nobody cares because going nude is about freedom and enjoyment and not viewed as something sexual.

  4. Step 4

Follow through with the chosen club or chapter according to their requirements. One club requires a paid subscription to their newsletter before continuing with the application process. From there, you must obtain a specified number of signatures from members at three different activities. You'll probably owe annual dues. This is all to show a vested interest as a contributing member and not someone who simply wants to see what it's all about and then disappear.

Tips & Warnings
  • Nude club members are also called naturists.

on 6/14/2009 It depends on whether it's a nudist park/resort or a nonlanded club. Nonlanded clubs generally will request a completed application prior to inviting you to meet or to an event.
