Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Avoid sunlight. Sunlight will eventually destroy a photo so choose an enlargement of an original. Consider having an oil painting made of your favorite photo to display. Keep the original safe and out of sunlight and preserve your photos in light proof boxes.
Step2
Order or print your wedding photos on acid free papers. Acidity is one of the biggest contributors to the fading and degradation of photos. Protect your wedding photos by insuring that they're printed on acid free archival paper.
Step3
Copy your wedding photos on a CD or have copies made and store the second set outside of your home, preferably in a safe deposit box. This preserves your wedding photos from fire, flood or storm damages that you have no control over.
Step4
Use only photo safe boxes or photo albums to store your wedding albums and store them in a dark, dry location. Don't store them on the floor, as that invites insects and exposes them to damage from spills or falling objects.
Step5
Clean your wedding photos periodically by dusting with a soft and dry cloth. Remember to clean the boxes or albums as well as the shelf where they're being stored to protect your photos from impurities.
Step6
Upload your wedding photos to your personal computer or to an online photo site. Many such sites offer free membership, unlimited available space, long term storage and printing options.
