Cycling is a great exercise for beginners and experts alike. From rugged terrain to bike paths, there are options for everyone. As you get more into the sport of cycling, you might want to invest in BMX cycling shoes. There are several factors to consider before you get the shoe that's perfect for your cycling needs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine if you want clipless pedal compatibility that allows you to attach your BMX cycling shoe onto part of your bike pedal. This feature with the BMX cycling shoes makes it more difficult to perform stunts, but many cyclists prefer to be connected to their bike. BMX shoes are available with and without this perk.

  2. Step 2

Check the current pedal system on your bike. If you opt for clipless pedal compatibility on your BMX cycling shoes, make sure your shoes are compatible with your pedal system.

  3. Step 3

Get the right fit. Your BMX cycling shoes should feel snug and your heel should not move around as you pedal your bike. Test the fit by standing on your toes. If you heel doesn't move, the shoes fit.

  4. Step 4

Buy the gender-appropriate shoe. Male shoes and female shoes are designed differently to best meet the needs of your foot. You'll get a better fit when you purchase the shoe that's designed to meet your needs.

  5. Step 5

Feel less padding. BMX cycling shoes offer harder soles than regular shoes to help you pedal when you're on your bike. Make sure your shoes are well ventilated because you're sure to sweat while wearing your shoes.
