Things You'll Need:
- Oil-free moisturizer
- Foundation
- Makeup sponge
- Concealer brush
- Concealer
- Loose powder
-
Step 1
Wash your face thoroughly to remove dead skin, acne medication or stubborn, lingering makeup. Now you have a clean, smooth surface for applying your makeup.
-
Step 2
Use an oil-free moisturizer all over your face. If you've been trying to combat your acne, the blemish is probably dry and flaky, which causes the makeup to cake up around it. Moisturizing makes the blemish smooth so the concealer goes on smoothly. Allow the moisturizer to dry completely.
-
Step 3
Apply a thin layer of foundation all over your face and blend it in so you don't have a line between your jawbone and your neck. Use a makeup sponge to apply the foundation to avoid spreading oil on your face with greasy fingers.
-
Step 4
Dab your concealer brush into a cream concealer that's one or two shades lighter than your foundation. Apply the concealer to the blemish, starting from the center and moving outward, with small circular motions.
-
Step 5
Brush a light layer of loose powder over your entire face. This sets your foundation and concealer and gives you a sheer, matte look. If you have oily skin, your powder should be a shade lighter than your natural color because it darkens when your face gets oily.
