Vitamin C, found almost exclusively in nonanimal foods, is an antioxidant necessary for tissue growth and repair as well as the metabolism of other vitamins and amino acids.

Things You'll Need:

  • Berries
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Kiwis
  • Papayas
  • Tangerines
  • Vegetables
  • Watermelons
  • Vitamin C Supplements

  1. Step 1

    Eat citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, lemons and limes.

  2. Step 2

    Drink citrus juices, preferably freshly squeezed.

  3. Step 3

    Add berries, melons, kiwi, papaya, pineapple and watermelon to your diet.

  4. Step 4

    Stock up on vegetables. Steam them or sauté them in a quick stir-fry to retain the most vitamin C.

Tips & Warnings
  • Vitamin C is not stored in the body and must be renewed every day, through food sources, supplements or both.
  • Avoid overcooking vegetables; much vitamin C is lost that way.

on 11/9/2008 Good advice. Many people don't eat enough fruit and veg and lack vital nutrients. I feel though as well as eating your 5 a day it's also good to supplement your diet to ensure you are getting all the essential minerals and vitamins required to stay healthy.
