Vitamin C, found almost exclusively in nonanimal foods, is an antioxidant necessary for tissue growth and repair as well as the metabolism of other vitamins and amino acids.
Eat citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, lemons and limes.
Step2
Drink citrus juices, preferably freshly squeezed.
Step3
Add berries, melons, kiwi, papaya, pineapple and watermelon to your diet.
Step4
Stock up on vegetables. Steam them or sauté them in a quick stir-fry to retain the most vitamin C.
Tips & Warnings
Vitamin C is not stored in the body and must be renewed every day, through food sources, supplements or both.
Avoid overcooking vegetables; much vitamin C is lost that way.
