Fish extract oxygen from the water in their tank in order to breathe. Aquarium bubblers do exactly as the name implies; they release bubbles into the aquarium so the fish can breathe. That's why experts recommend that every aquarium be equipped with a bubbler.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase a durable bubbler. Some bubblers wear out after extended time in the water. However, it's common to find aquarium bubblers that are made of materials, like ceramic, designed to be in the water. These bubblers are long lasting, they're good for your fish and they're easy to clean.

  2. Step 2

Keep your fish in mind. Some fish, like bettas, don't care for a rush of bubbles in their tank. If you have fish that are scared of a bubbler, consider a small bubbler in the corner of your aquarium. Depending on the size of your tank, your fish may be able to survive with just a light trickle.

  3. Step 3

Choose your bubble size. Aquarium bubblers can make bubbles both large and small. Most people, and fish, prefer the finer bubbles.

  4. Step 4

Consider your own taste. Aquarium bubblers come in basic designs or you can pick a fun design. They even come in characters that kids will love. The sky is the limit when it comes to the appearance of your aquarium bubbler.

  5. Step 5

Remember accessories. Air tubing, valves and an air pump are necessary for your aquarium bubbler to work properly. You can pick up all of your supplies for a reasonable price at your favorite pet supply store.
