Trips to the grocery store are usually pretty mundane, but there are a few things that you can do to make them more exciting. A supermarket scavenger hunt is a fun way to get the whole family involved in the shopping and make the chore go much quicker. You can give each person a list and send everyone down the aisles in search of treasure.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Create a grocery list of about two dozen items that you want help searching for. Try to pick items that come from different areas of the store and throw in a few items that may be difficult to find. Specialty items and ethnic foods are a good choice for older children and adults.
Step2
Rally your troops. Get everyone together and then send them out into the supermarket with a short list of one or two items to find each. To keep a level playing field, give the harder items to the oldest children and the easiest ones to the smaller kids.
Step3
Wait at a designated spot with a cart.
Step4
Check the items as the family members show up, to make sure they have the right items and send them back out to find a new item or two. Once each family member has found a certain number of items and completed your list, you can announce a winner.
Step5
Enjoy the taste of victory. Take your groceries home and create a feast for the entire family to celebrate a job well done.
