Step 1
Select the style of up-flow filter you want to install in your koi pond. There are several sizes available ranging from 10 to 20 inches wide with smooth or turbulent flows.
-
Step 2
Decide where you would like to install the up-flow filter in your koi pond. You can install it on the edge of the pond or you can put it in the center, surrounded by river rocks or vegetation.
-
Step 3
Attach the pre-filter screen to the pump if your model includes one. The pre-filters prevent large debris from clogging up the pump.
-
Step 4
Secure all necessary tubings to the pump. Attach the other end of the tubing to the filters and secure with hose clamps.
-
Step 5
Level the ground where you will place the up-flow filter. Place the filter and plumbing parts in place and turn the pump on.
-
Step 6
Check your cleaning indicator on your up-flow filter periodically to see if it needs attention. If your filter is dirty then your koi pond may have contaminants.
