The regulator is what controls the amount of propane gas going to your grill. It is important that the regulator be in good working order. The regulator is also a safety feature on your grill—-it acts as a safety barrier between the propane tank and the grill.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Turn the cap on the pressure regulator with a coin or flathead screwdriver and remove it.

  2. Step 2

Snap the plunger back into its original position. Re-insert the plunger into the regulator and tighten.

  3. Step 3

Find the pilot screw located behind the thermostat knob. Remove the thermostat knob and check the control screw—make sure it is on the LP setting. This will require a full turn in the clockwise direction. Replace the thermostat knob.

  4. Step 4

Work with the ½-inch wrench and turn the safety valve orifice hood clockwise until it is tight. This will finish the replacement of the regulator.

  5. Step 5

Control the angle of the vent on the regulator—it must point downward to keep rain, snow, ice and other debris out.

  6. Step 6

Protect the regulator from bangs and other damage. All the regulator needs is a cover for protection.

  7. Step 7

Check the conversion for leaks. Turn the LP gas on and plug the power supply cord into a grounded outlet. Adjust the air shutters for equal gas distribution. Readjust the range lighting pilots.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put a screen over the vent on the regulator to keep insects from collecting.
  • Create a cover for the regulator by cutting an empty plastic milk bottle.
  • Do not attempt to repair a regulator.
