The next time you want to rustle up a down-home look for a hayride or square dance, dress up like a fun-loving cowgirl. It's a simple style to achieve and if you're successful, you may even be able to lasso your own cowboy to take home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pull on a tight and worn-in pair of old jeans. Cowboys and cowgirls need to be ready for anything, so wear a pair of jeans that you wouldn't mind getting dirty. Wear a denim miniskirt, if you want to go for a sexier look.

  2. Step 2

Don a simple, button-down, plaid or checkered western shirt. It should have piping at the yolk and pearl snaps. For a fancier look, go for a leather or suede style with embroidery and fringe on the sleeves.

  3. Step 3

Tie a bandanna around your neck in any color. The best part about being a cowgirl is you don't have to worry about making sure your outfit matches.

  4. Step 4

Wear your hair in low, curled pigtails or braids for that authentic, farmer's daughter look. If your hair is too short for pigtails, go to Step 5.

  5. Step 5

Put on an authentic straw cowboy hat, making sure to keep your pigtails peeking out below its rim.

  6. Step 6

Slip on some cowboy boots. Most cowboy boots are made out of leather but there are many different styles and brands to choose from.

  7. Step 7

Complete your outfit by slipping a holster around your waist. Buy some toy pistols and you're ready to roll.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your makeup simple, if you wear any, with just a bit of blush and a touch of eyeshadow. Go completely natural for a truly authentic look.
