How to Go to a College Football Celebration Party

If you've accepted an invitation to watch a college football game, be an active part of the celebration whether you're a student, a dedicated graduate or just a die-hard fan of the team. Make the party more enjoyable by showing your school spirit and being a generous and courteous guest.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Wear school colors. If you don't have appropriate clothing on hand, visit the campus bookstore, clothing stores near the college or websites like FootballFanatics.com or CollegeGear.com for sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats and accessories featuring the team logo. (See Resources below.)
Step2
Bring inexpensive souvenirs for everyone like miniature footballs, pennants, pom-poms or beads in school colors. Prepare a gift for the host like a spirit basket (filled with college or football-themed trinkets from the campus bookstore) to open at the party or a relaxation package (with a bottle of wine and a compact disc of cool music) that they can enjoy after.
Step3
Contribute snacks. Ask the hosts what they'll be serving and fill in the gaps. Make treats like chocolate chip cookies in the college colors—just add a few drops of food coloring to the batter before baking.
Step4
Designate a driver if you plan to drink at the party and keep an eye on friends.
Step5
Be a lively guest, but not an obnoxious one. Consider the person you're sitting next to before letting out an ear-splitting college cheer or telling an off-color joke. If some guests are rooting for the opposing team, don't hassle them unless you've established a rapport of good-natured teasing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't let anyone get behind the driver's wheel if they're impaired from drinking alcohol.
