Surfing, Skateboard Big Air and BMX freestyle are just a few of the extreme sporting competitions held during the thrilling summer X-Games. If you're a diehard fan of the sports, bring the excitement home by collecting memorabilia that commemorates the events, athletes and experiences.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you want to collect memorabilia surrounding a particular athlete or event or if you'd rather build a collection of X-Games ephemera in general.

  2. Step 2

Hold onto programs and ticket stubs.

  3. Step 3

Hang out at the arenas even if you don't have tickets for the actual events. Check out the souvenir stands and socialize with other fans that may have interesting items to sell or trade.

  4. Step 4

Aim for autographs. If you attend any X-Games events, bring memorabilia along if you're hoping to get it signed by specific athletes. Keep programs and pens handy to collect signatures of even lesser-known participants since you never know the identify of tomorrow's superstar.

  5. Step 5

Search sports memorabilia shops, conventions, websites and online auctions after the games for unique or coveted items. Be sure to confirm authenticity and condition before buying autographed, exclusive or rare memorabilia.

  6. Step 6

Give friends who are attending any events a copy of your "wants." List items along with prices you're willing to pay and give them the green light to purchase items in your behalf.

  7. Step 7

Check your storage space if you're hoping to accumulate large pieces like clothing, flags, replicas or equipment used in an actual event or by your favorite athletes.

  8. Step 8

Preserve memorabilia for posterity. Keep cards, photos, programs and ticket stubs in acid-free, PVC-free sheets in a cool, dry place. If you're planning on displaying favorites, purchase sturdy, archival-safe, UV-protected cases or have items custom framed by a professional framer.
