How to Move a Picture in OpenOffice Impress

After you insert a picture into your OpenOffice Impress presentation, you may have to move the image to a new location to get the placement just right. The steps below will show you how to move any picture within your Impress presentation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start OpenOffice Impress and open an existing PowerPoint presentation that contains a picture you'd like to insert.
Step2
Click the picture. You will know the picture is selected when you see green sizing handles surrounding it.
Step3
Hover the mouse over the picture until you see a four-headed arrow. Move the picture to a different location.
Step4
Click on the picture and hold down the mouse button as you drag the picture to another location. Release the mouse button when you have moved your picture to the new location.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also move a picture by choosing the "Format" menu and clicking on "Position and Size" to open the "Position and Size" dialog box. From here, you specify the X (horizontal) and the Y (vertical) coordinates for the picture.
  • If you don't see the "Slides" pane, click the "View" menu and then click on "Slide Pane" to display the slides task pane.
