OpenOffice Impress has a few design templates that contain a set of text and style formatting characteristics that will tie your presentation together with a consistent look. The steps below will walk you through applying one of these design templates to an existing or new Impress presentation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start OpenOffice Impress and open an existing presentation or start a new one.
Step2
Select any of the slides in the "Slides" pane on the left side of your screen by clicking on the slide. The slide will then be displayed in the main Impress window.
Step3
Click "Master Pages" in the "Tasks" pane on the right side of your screen to display the design templates.
Step4
Click a template. Once selected, you will see it applied to your current slide, as well as your other slides in the "Slides" pane.
Step5
Decide which design template you would like to have applied to your presentation, and leave it selected. As long as the design template is selected in the "Master Pages" section of the "Tasks" pane, it will be applied to your presentation.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't see the "Slides" or "Tasks" panel, choose the "View" menu and click on "Slides Pane" and "Tasks Pane."
  • You can further format your design template by choosing the "Format" menu and clicking on "Page" to bring up the "Page Setup" dialog box. Under the "Background" tab, you can make changes to the background of your design template.
