How to Change Many Links at Once in Microsoft Word

If you must change many links in your Microsoft Word document, use the Find and Replace feature to replace them all at once. You'll complete an otherwise tedious and time-consuming task in seconds.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start Microsoft Word and open an existing document.
Step2
Choose the "Edit" menu, and click on "Find" to open the "Find and Replace" dialog box.
Step3
Click the "Replace" tab, if necessary, to go to the find and replace section of the "Find and Replace" dialog box.
Step4
Type or paste the link that you want to change in the "Find what" text box.
Step5
Type or paste the new link you want to use to replace the existing link into the "Replace with" text box.
Step6
Select the "Replace All" button to replace each version of the link within the Word document. When Word is done, a dialog box will confirm the replacement and indicate how many times the link was replaced.

Tips & Warnings

  • The keyboard shortcut of CTRL+F will quickly bring up Word's "Find and Replace" dialog box.
  • You can use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+V to paste a copied link into Word's "Find and Replace" dialog box.
