Step 1
Examine the wool. It should be an off-white or a very creamy. Often, the copper-red color on this breed's faces and legs will bleed into the wool on their bodies, giving it a creamy-red look. The wool should feel extremely soft.
-
Step 2
Examine the ears of the sheep. They will appear loose and hang freely, and are often described as pendulous. The ears of a Tunis sheep are also slightly longer than those of other breeds and often give the impression of being floppy.
-
Step 3
Locate the dock area of the sheep. This will be the area right below the tail, or where the tail was prior to being docked. Check for any small fat deposits.
-
Step 4
Consider size. The mature Tunis rams are slightly larger than rams of other sheep species. They typically weigh between 175 to 225 pounds.
-
Step 5
Notice demeanor. Tunis sheep have a very sweet and caring look about them and are always eager for attention from the individuals that approach them.
