Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look around the checkout register at commonly frequented stores. Most retail shops will have a cup sitting by the register full of advertising pens for patrons to use and keep. Banks are also known for giving out promotional pens at the teller windows.

Check the incoming mail carefully. Promotional companies send samples of pens to prospective customers. Some of the freebie samples are higher-end quality pens, making for an even better collectible.

Visit the local fair or community celebration. Companies who set up booths to drum up new business will have a variety of plastic stick pens to hand out to prospective clients.

  5. Step 5

Attend trade shows and conferences. Most booths will have a variety of pens to offer customers. Presenters at trade shows try to offer memorable promotional items, making it possible to collect an assortment of distinctive pens

  6. Step 6

Buy promotional pens from tourist attractions as a remembrance of a vacation or trip. A typical promotional pen is plastic with a 3-D scene enclosed in the upper barrel.
