Beauty aids and skin care products are among the most expensive products found in your local grocery store. They are often filled with unnecessary chemicals that do your skin more harm than good. If you suffer from brittle nails, make your own natural hand cream to keep your hands soft and supple while strengthening your nails naturally.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Measure 2 oz. of beeswax, 1 cup of sweet almond oil, 1 tsp. of castor oil and 1 tsp. of olive oil in the top of a double boiler. Warm the ingredients just enough to melt the wax, but not so hot that they are uncomfortable to handle.
Step2
Warm 1 cup of water in a separate pot, heating until warm but not too hot to touch.
Step3
Pour the warm water into a blender and cover with the lid. Remove the small circular cap in the blender lid and turn the blender on its lowest setting. While the blender is running, slowly pour the warm wax and oil mixture into the blender.
Step4
Add 10 drops of lemon essential oil to the blender while it is still running. Continue blending the mixture until the mixture has cooled and thickened into an even cream.
Step5
Turn off the blender, and carefully spoon your natural hand cream into small jars with tight fitting lids. Allow the cream to cool completely before sealing with the lid.
Step6
Store your natural hand cream in a dark, cool location or in the refrigerator if you live in a hot climate to extend its shelf life.

Tips & Warnings

  • Beeswax pellets are easier to use and melt faster; however, block beeswax can be shaved with a cheese grater or knife for the same effect.
