How to Make Pain Relieving Bath Salts

Things You'll Need
- Epsom salts
- Mixing bowl
- Food coloring (optional)
- Wintergreen essential oil
- Eucalyptus essential oil
- Peppermint essential oil
- Jar with tight fitting lid

Measure 1 cup of Epsom salts into a mixing bowl. Epsom salts help to relieve painful muscles and joints by gently drawing out toxins from your body, sedating the nervous system, reducing inflammation and increasing circulation. In addition to it's pain relieving qualities, Epsom salts also exfoliate and nourish the skin, leaving you with a healthy glow.

Add 4 or 5 drops of food coloring to your bath salts if you like. To make the salts a nice even color, toss the salt and food coloring in the bowl, or cover with a lid and shake. Shake, stir or toss until even.

Place 2 drops of wintergreen, 2 drops of eucalyptus and 2 drops of peppermint essential oils into the salt mixture and stir well. The soothing menthol blend of wintergreen, eucalyptus and peppermint will not only invigorate your mind and body, it will help to cool and soothe hot, aching muscles.

Pour your finished pain relieving bath salts into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Store your salts in a cool, dark location, as exposure to sun and heat can destroy the healing qualities of your essential oils.

Spoon 1 or 2 tbsp. of bath salts into a hot tub, relax and enjoy.
