When people need extra money they often try moonlighting, which is a second job done at night or on the weekends. Moonlighting as a cashier is one of the easier ways to earn extra money. Retail stores usually need cashiers; so there are plenty of jobs. Most cashiering jobs require little experience. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get training--although cashiering jobs do not require training, if you have experience you will earn more money.

  2. Step 2

Select a place to work. You can work as a cashier in any retail environment including restaurants, supermarkets, department stores and movie theatres. Since you have been working all day, location is a prime factor in the selection of your moonlighting job. The location should be close to work or home.

  3. Step 3

Consider places that are advertising for cashiers. Make a note of all the retail stores that are in your neighborhood and advertising for cashiers.

  4. Step 4

Apply for work by filling out job applications. The more companies you apply to, the better your chances of being hired.

  5. Step 5

Go for interviews. Let the employer know this is a part time job and the hours you are available to work.

  6. Step 6

Accept the job that pays you the most without interfering with your day job. Factor in employee discounts if that will help you save on your regular expenses.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try not to take on too many hours--remember you still have your day job to work.
  • Moonlighting doesn't mean you have to work at night--you can do it on the weekends.
  • Remember you won't get rich from moonlighting as a cashier.
