Bartending is a great way to earn some extra money. Depending on your schedule, you can moonlight as a bartender on a regular basis or only occasionally at weddings or holiday parties. Even if you've never been a professional bartender, brushing up on your cocktail skills is easy with one of the many bartending books available. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Pick up a copy of the Bartender's Bible--or another bartending how-to book, if it has been a while since you last served drinks.
Step2
Decide how much time you can realistically devote to moonlighting as a bartender. If you work a full-time nine to five job, you may want to stick to just an occasional weekend.
Step3
Look for work as a bartender during the busy entertaining seasons, such as summer weddings and family reunions and winter holiday parties. Employers are more likely to hire you during these times than in slower seasons.
Step4
Work seasonally as a bartender. If you live near a ski mountain resort, consider working extra time as a bartender during the busy winter months and take the summers off. The same rule applies if you live near a busy summer destination, such as a beach or resort town.
Step5
Improve your chances of being hired as a bartender by taking a TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) class. This program is designed to teach employees how to serve alcohol responsibly, as well as how to recognize a patron who has had too much to drink.
