Wakeboard towers add value and style to your boat. Not only are they practical for holding wakeboards, but they are also great for mounting speakers and other accessories. Besides figuring out how to build it yourself, there are several options available for purchasing one. Buy a wakeboard tower through your boat dealership or purchase one that's after-market. Install a wakeboard tower yourself to save money. Read on to learn how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know your options. Explore and price the options before you buy a wakeboard tower. Investigate factory, dealership, independent or do-it-yourself (DIY) installation.

  2. Step 2

Understand that most boat dealerships can include wakeboard towers with your new boat, and it will be added to your invoice. Some dealerships don't offer wakeboard towers as a feature option, however, because they like to order the accessory work that is done through a custom builder.

  3. Step 3

Choose an independent installer who specializes in custom boat installations, maintenance and repair. Compare the hourly labor rates and discover it's cheaper to buy a wakeboard tower from an independent installer than a boat dealership. Independents are usually more flexible and available more often too. Stop before spending as much or more money on labor as the cost of the wakeboard tower.

  4. Step 4

Buy supplies for do it yourself (DIY). Note that designing, buying the parts and building a wakeboard tower yourself takes skill and/or talent. Grasp also that you need access to welding equipment or a welder. Realize it is doable, though, and it can be very inexpensive.

  5. Step 5

Note that ordering a manufactured wakeboard tower might be a better option for DIY. Order online from various wakeboard accessory companies and follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembling it yourself once you get the tower. Comprehend that it's not always easy to install from a box of parts and pieces. Find a local company, instead, to buy a wakeboard tower from if you don't want to order online.

  6. Step 6

Become familiar with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) used by boat dealerships, such as Titan— Calabria and Pro Flight—Sanger, Supreme and Centurion. Recognize original equipment suppliers (OES), such as Boss Accessories, Mako, Pro Flight, Titan and Wake Design. Notice how a few companies are both, and some may sell to you direct when you buy a wakeboard tower.

  7. Step 7

Order aftermarket wakeboard towers from manufacturers like 13th Floor, Fusion Sports, Monster Tower and Wake Air.
