1. Pick a time when the baby is in a good mood. The child should be well-rested and well-fed. The morning hours following breakfast are likely to be a good time to take the photo.
2. Clean the baby and put her in the most adorable outfit. Judges of a cute baby contest are going to look for a child that is dressed prettily and well groomed.
3. Take the photo without the flash. Your child is likely to look disoriented or squinty-eyed during a flash photo. Take the photo in a room with adequate light, but without direct sunlight on the baby's face.
4. Create a natural background. The background should not look like a set. Instead, use the outdoors or her normal play area for the photo.
