Things You'll Need:
- Henna paste
- Applicator
- Pen or eyeliner pencil
-
Step 1
Wash the area where you are applying henna with soap and water, and dry it completely. For foot designs, wash the entire foot, ankles and lower leg. You may even exfoliate the area to remove the top layers of dry skin.
-
Step 2
Sit the artist comfortably on the floor directly in front of the person receiving the tattoo, who should sit in a chair.
-
Step 3
Sketch the design quickly onto the ankles and feet first, using a pen or eyeliner pencil. It helps to have guideline before beginning because quickly-staining henna does not allow for mistakes.
-
Step 4
Apply the henna tattoo starting with the outside lines of the design and moving in to do intricate details last. This makes it easier to keep things symmetrical.
-
Step 5
Begin the design at the ankle and move up the leg, and then move down toward the toes.
-
Step 6
Decorate the tops of the feet before the bottoms. The tops of the feet and the ankles have very thin skin, which makes staining harder. You may need more than one application. The bottom of the feet and calf of the leg stains much darker.
