How to Visit Alaska's Pioneer Park

Pioneer Park, located on the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska, is a historic theme park. With 44 acres of museums and displays on the history of Alaska and its people, a trip to Fairbanks isn't complete without a visit to Pioneer Park.

Step1
Learn about the operating hours of Alaska's Pioneer Park. The park is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Most shops, restaurants and museums remain open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily during the summer months.
Step2
Determine the location of Pioneer Park within Fairbanks, Alaska. You'll find Pioneer Park right off of Airport Way on the Chena River in Fairbanks. Once arriving at the park, you will find free parking for visitors.
Step3
Stop by the visitor information center located in a cabin right inside the main park entrance. Here you can pick up a map of Pioneer Park in addition to park brochures. Park Staff can also answer any questions you have about Pioneer Park.
Step4
Visit the many museums inside Pioneer Park. Be sure to stop by the Pioneer Museum, the Pioneer Air Museum and the Alaska Native Village Museum. Admission to all of these museums is free.
Step5
Tour the riverboat S.S. Nenana, docked within Pioneer Park. Check out displays on the boat to learn about this boat's place within the Yukon River Fleet from 1933 to 1952. You can tour the boat for free.
Step6
Eat dinner at the Alaska Salmon Bake within Pioneer Park. Located in the Mining Valley, the Alaska Salmon Bake serves dinner from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. daily from mid-May to mid-September. The restaurant offers Alaskan seafood and prime rib for adults as well as meals for children. Purchase tickets and make reservations by calling (907) 452-7274.
Step7
Watch the Golden River Revue show at the Palace Saloon within Pioneer Park. This musical comedy operates once daily in the evenings. You can make reservations, purchase tickets and get show time information by calling (907) 456-5960.
