Getting a fast, beautiful tan in a short amount of time can be exactly what you need to feel confident during the warmer months of the year. Using an accelerator is one of the best ways to get a deep, gorgeous tan in a shorter amount of time. Tan accelerators work by preparing the body for exposure to the sun by stimulating its natural melanin production.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Establish a base tan prior to using tanning accelerators.
Step2
Exfoliate the skin thoroughly in the shower and towel dry in order to prepare the skin by removing dead skin cells. This is the key to an even tan.
Step3
Apply the accelerator only to areas that are slow to tan in order to even out your tan.
Step4
Use a slow, circular motion to help avoid missing spots and massage in until absorbed.
Step5
Tan either in a tanning booth or outdoors for a shorter amount of time.
Step6
Moisturize your body daily and keep your tan looking great longer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not have any hard-to-tan areas, apply the accelerator to your entire body from the bottom up: lower legs and feet, upper legs and butt, hips and stomach, chest, neck, shoulders, arms and a thin layer on the hands.
  • Make dark spots lighter by using a loofah or textured pad to take off just enough excess color to make those spots blend in.
  • Most tan accelerators do NOT have sunscreen.
  • Harsh soaps and cleaners will shorten the life of your tan.
