Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Whole-wheat bagel, English muffin or bread
  • Natural peanut butter
  • Birdseed
  • Raisins
  1. Step 1

Cut a whole-wheat bagel, English muffin or piece of bread into small bite-size pieces that your bird will be able to eat easily.

  2. Step 2

Add a nutty taste to the bird treats by spreading natural peanut butter (no sugar added) onto the entire surface of the chunks.

  3. Step 3

Roll the peanut-butter-covered bread into the birdseed your bird usually eats. This adds some extra nutrients to the treat and makes it less sticky to handle.

  4. Step 4

Stick one or two raisins part way into the bread for an extra treat.

  5. Step 5

Serve the treats right away, or store in the refrigerator for later.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find already prepared bird treats in your home, such as hard-boiled eggs, fruits, nuts and low-fat yogurt.
  • Giving your bird more than one or two treats a day might make your bird sick.
  • Avoid commercial bird treats that have sugar or corn syrup as an ingredient. These aren't healthy for birds to consume.
