A chemical sunscreen should be applied right after washing your face because it works within the skin and a physical sunscreen should be applied after moistuizer/make up because it kind of acts like a mirror. -

By Ronald Shelton, MD - Manhattan Dermatologist says sunscreen should go on your skin, not on make up. He says "sunscreen must bind to the stratum corneum ( or the most upper layer of the skin ) to chemically work best. If applied over makeup, it will not protect you in the way it was designed." The greasy nature of sunscreen will also remove your make-up like lotion removes make-up!
