Step 1
Determine whether or not self-inflating tires are available for your vehicle. If you drive a military vehicle or a large commercial truck, chances are you can have a self-inflating tire system installed. If a central self-inflating tire system is already installed in your vehicle, there should be controls and monitors on your dashboard that allow you to adjust tire pressure while driving.
-
Step 2
Select tires made by the same manufacturer as your central self-inflating tire system or your vehicle to ensure compatibility and function. Never interchange the style or brand of tires without first consulting the manufacturer of your vehicle's self-inflating tire system.
-
Step 3
Choose the right tire for your needs. Whether you are on the highway for long hours in your semi-truck and would like a standard radial tire or you are romping through the mud in your hummer and would like a tread especially designed for the swamps, there is the perfect self-inflating tire for your needs.

Step 4
Purchase five self-inflating tires in case of a major blow-out. Self-inflating tire systems do not support standard spares, so you must keep an extra full-sized tire in your car at all times. Many tire manufacturers that offer tires compatible with self-inflating tire systems also offer full-sized spare tire mounts for your vehicle as well as repair kits, changing kits and wheel balancers.
