Step 1
Convert your shoe size before shopping. Add two shoe sizes to your current size for a general idea of what size you'll need in women's shoes. For example, if you currently wear a size 11 in men's, you'll need a 13 in women's.
-
Step 2
Shop at your local shoe and discount stores first. While these stores don't cater to cross-dressers, many of them stock women's shoes up to size 12.
-
Step 3
Look for open toe shoe styles in a size smaller than you need. This style of shoe provides extra space in the front. Choose an open toe sandal for extra space in the front and back.
-
Step 4
Buy a wedge or espadrille if you're a beginning cross-dresser and don't walk well in heels. These define your legs, while providing support for your feet. These styles commonly have open fronts and backs meaning men can look for a smaller size, which increases the designs available.

Step 5
Browse cross-dressing specialty stores online for shoes designed in both men's and women's sizes. Online stores, such as cross-dress.com, offer a wide variety of shoes not found in local stores (see Resources below).
