Avocado body butter is beneficial for dry, oily, or combination skin. You can make a batch of avocado body butter in your kitchen from a few basic ingredients. Rub some all over your body after a shower, and your skin will feel great all day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 9 oz. shea oil or cocoa butter
  • 9 oz. avocado oil
  • 50 drops essential oil of your choice
  • 3 tsp. corn starch
  • Small wide-mouth jars, sterilized
  • Double boiler
  • Large bowl
  • Ice

Step1
Melt the shea butter or cocoa butter in the top of a double boiler on medium heat, being careful not to overheat.
Step2
Add the avocado oil, essential oil and corn starch to the warm mixture, and mix thoroughly.
Step3
Remove the top of the double boiler from the heat and place it in a large bowl filled with ice water.
Step4
Whip the mixture for several minutes, until it begins to cool and thicken. When it reaches the desired consistency and begins to looks like whipped cream with stiff peaks, spoon it into the sterilized jars.
Step5
Label the jars and use the body butter within 2 months.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avocado body butter stored in the refrigerator will last longer. However, the body butter will have a firmer consistency.
  • Good suggestions for essential oil are rose geranium, mint, lemon, orange or lavender. All are healthy, fragrant additions to the avocado body butter. Essential oils can also be combined.
