How to Get Tickets to the Tanglewood Music Festival

The Tanglewood Music Festival is an annual event held in Lenox, Massachusetts each summer that features the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Tickets sell out rapidly and are not available until the schedule is set, typically in March or April of each year. For tips on obtaining tickets, read on.

Step1
Familiarize yourself with the date when tickets go on sale. This date changes from year to year, as tickets are not available until the BSO schedule is set.
Step2
Call the BSO for recorded information regarding their schedule at (617) 266-1492. The recording is updated in a timely fashion and is a good way to learn when the schedule is finalized, and thus when the tickets will be released for sale.
Step3
Purchase tickets prior to June of each year by writing the Tanglewood Ticket Office at Symphony Hall. The street address 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston MA, 02115. To buy tickets after June first, mail the Tanglewood Ticket Office at 297 West Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
Step4
Include your payment. Tickets for Shed Owaza Hall vary quite a bit in price, while the lawn tickets are much less expensive. Kids under the age of 12 are admitted free while children under the age of 5 are not allowed in the Shed or in Owaza Hall.
Step5
Charge the tickets to your credit card by calling Symphony Charge at (800) 266-1200 or (617) 266-1200. You can also charge tickets by going to the BSO website (see Resources below).
