A back scratcher comes in many forms. You can find wooden back scratchers, plastic ones, long ones, short ones, expandable ones and ones that have "fingers" like a hand. The best scratchers are the ones that let you reach the farthest. You can also find back scratchers that have more than one purpose letting you get even more for your money.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a back scratcher. Find the one that suits you best--there are many choices. You can find wooden back scratchers that have fingers, expandable ones that let you reach the hardest places and even ones that come with massagers and shoehorns attached.

  2. Step 2

Hold the back scratcher in the hand you would normally use to scratch an itch. Alternatively, use the hand that will let you reach the itch.

  3. Step 3

Turn the back scratcher so the fingers are facing you.

  4. Step 4

Lift your arm over your shoulder or reach behind you and place the back scratcher on the itch.

  5. Step 5

Move the back scratcher up and down or right and left in order to scratch your itch.

  6. Step 6

Expand the back scratcher to reach the places you can't get to.

  7. Step 7

Use the back scratcher when you scratch someone else's back so you don't have to use your fingers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use back scratchers to scratch other itches besides your back. They are handy on legs and arms too.
  • Back scratchers make great gifts for that person who has everything.
  • If you purchase a wooden back scratcher, make sure you get one that won't leave splinters.
