The Superman may be one of the most impressive in all Freestyle Motocross (FMX) tricks, and comes in multiple variations. In this trick, you lift your body off your bike, holding yourself parallel to the seat as you fly through the air. The Superman Double Grab is a great way to build up to the Superman Seat Grab, and when mastered, will have the crowd and judges talking.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Perfect your takeoff before attempting the Superman Double Grab. This trick requires lots of lift, plenty of airtime and a sure landing. Once you have mastered your takeoff and landing, you can begin to practice this challenging FMX trick.

  2. Step 2

Execute your takeoff. As soon as you get some air, move your hands down to each edge of the side panel near your seat. Push with your hands as you kick back your feet, lifting your body off of your bike and stretching your legs out behind you. Note that in the full Superman FMX trick you will move your body much further down your bike and remove a hand, so when you master this trick you can begin practicing for the more advanced Superman.

  3. Step 3

Hold the position for a few seconds during your peak air time to accentuate the appearance of you flying through the air with your bike. Once you have perfected the Superman Double Grab, releasing one or both hands or moving on to the Superman Seat Grab can score you some extra points from the judges.

  4. Step 4

Prepare for your landing once you begin to feel you and your bike falling on the opposite side of the peak. Carefully move your hands up to the handle bars as you bend at the waist and knees, returning to a seated position to execute your landing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never practice FMX tricks alone. A buddy will not only help you to perfect the technical details of your tricks, they can call for help in case of emergency.
