Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch videos of riders like Travis Pastrana. His FMX rodeo tricks are smooth, fluid and well worth imitating. Watch the videos several times to study the timing of the FMX rodeo trick in relation to the take-off, jump and landing.

  2. Step 2

Practice a few jumps to get a feel of the track and the jump. Work on getting nice, smooth, high jumps to give yourself a lot of time in the air.

  3. Step 3

Jump again, letting go of the handlebars with one hand. Move the other hand toward the middle of the handlebars.

  4. Step 4

Swing your legs forward on either side of your hand and click your heels.

  5. Step 5

Throw your free hand up in the air like a cowboy riding the bucking bronco (hence the name: rodeo trick).

  6. Step 6

Drop your legs and your hands down and keep the bike steady for the landing. Make sure you keep your movements smooth and continuous as you're doing the FMX rodeo trick. You don't want to throw off the bike's balance so you land crookedly or worse.

  7. Step 7

Be safe. Always wear your safety gear and your helmet. Take your time practicing the FMX rodeo.
