The Holy Grab is one of the most difficult tricks in Freestyle Motocross (FMX) and considered by many to be harder than a back flip. It is a signature of Bryan Dowdy and has established his reputation as a top rider. The following steps will show how to do the FMX Holy Grab Trick.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Perform the Holy Grab as a progression of more simple tricks. Each trick should be mastered before advancing to the next one in the following order: Superman, Superman Double Grab, Rock Solid and Holy Grab.

  2. Step 2

Practice a Superman. Take your feet off the bike and hold your body horizontal to the ground with only your hands holding onto the bike by the handle bars. You should look like Superman flying through the air before pulling yourself back in for the landing.

  3. Step 3

Advance to the Superman Double Grab. This is similar to the Superman, except you also remove both hands from the bars so that you are not touching the bike at all. Now grab the side plates and do a Superman before pulling yourself in.

  4. Step 4

Complete a Rock Solid. This a Superman Double Grab in which you are parallel with the bike before grabbing back onto the side plates and getting back on the bike.

  5. Step 5

Master the Holy Grab. The final form of this trick is like a Rock Solid, except you grab onto the grab holes instead of the side plates to pull yourself back in.

Tips & Warnings
  • FMX tricks are dangerous and may result in severe injury or death. No FMX trick should be attempted without proper supervision and protective gear at all times. The Holy Grab is especially dangerous because it requires you to lose contact with the bike.
