The freestyle motocross, or FMX, bar hop trick is a relatively easy trick to learn. It also serves as the base move for other, more advanced stunts. As with any FMX or extreme sport it is important to follow safety guidelines at all times.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wear all of your FMX safety equipment. Make sure your motorcycle is in top shape as well. Before you get on your motorcycle, take the time to stretch your muscles.

  2. Step 2

Get your motorcycle up to speed. Approach the ramp with the intention of keeping your motorcycle steady as you perform the bar hop trick.

  3. Step 3

Push your body up above the bike as soon as it clears the ramp. Quickly bend your knees and pull your legs up as close as possible to your body. Remember to hold on tightly to the handlebars as you complete this step.

  4. Step 4

Swing your body forward over the handlebars while your body is still in a ball. Kick your legs straight out in front of you as soon as your feet clear the handlebars. It may take a while before you are able to complete this portion of the trick in time. Concentrate on clearing the handlebars with your butt to start.

  5. Step 5

Reverse your body's forward motion. Tuck your legs back to your chest if you extended them. Create a tight ball from your body again. Swing your body back over the handlebars.

  6. Step 6

Extend your legs as soon as you complete the bar hop. Your feet should be on the pegs so you can land the jump safely.

Tips & Warnings
