How to Use Strategy in Doubles Squash

Strategy when playing in doubles squash is what separates the winners from the losers. Strategy in doubles squash not only means a more exciting game, but also provides a better workout for all the players. Partners who learn to play well together observing steps like the following will take the court and win most of the time.

Instructions

    • 1

Assess the exact amount of space available to play doubles squash and learn to make the limitations of the space work for you and your partner's strategy.

    • 2

Watch a doubles game and observe how the players move around the court. At first, it may look like random violence of drop shots, rebounds, volleys, ricochets and drives. The players are actually orchestrating each move to place their opponents out of the game.

    • 3

Concentrate hitting tight shots to the four corners while learning how to play on the left or right side of the court without hitting or running into your opponent. This actually looks like two players constantly circling each other taking turns to return the ball.

    • 4

Keep the shots low without hitting them too low and losing the rally.

    • 5

Fool the opponent by creating ways of making a deceptive shot every now and then. Using your body, you can indicate a shot to the lower left when in fact it's to the lower right.

    • 6

Figure out the weakness of each opponent so you and your partner get the advantage in the match by playing to those weaknesses. Watch the backhand compared to the forehand, and determine which one is weaker. Also watch how they take low shots versus drives.

Tips & Warnings

  • The faster you and your partner play, the better you'll be able to deceive your opponent.
