Not only do guests expect clean rooms at a motel, the owners expect it. Motels need to maintain a high level of cleanliness in order to achieve high scores from the agencies that rate them. If a guest stays at a motel with an unclean room, the guest just might post a blog or a review on the Internet warning other guests not to stay there.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Clean the Bathroom

Step1
Fold new linens according to company standard and put them in the proper place.
Step2
Use a disinfectant cleaner to wipe down the shower, the tub, the soap holder and the shower curtain.
Step3
Scrub the toilet bowl, the toilet seat and the outside of the toilet with disinfectant cleaner.
Step4
Wipe down the mirror to get rid of streaks and spots, and mop the floor.
Step5
Restock the bathroom with toilet paper, tissue, cups and soaps.
Step6
Wash the ice bucket and coffee pot. Restock the coffee supplies.
Step7
Empty the trash and put a new liner in the trash can.

Make the Bed

Step1
Strip off old bed linens.
Step2
Put clean sheets on the bed.
Step3
Place a blanket on top of the top sheet.
Step4
Tuck all the bottom corners into the bed using hospital corners.
Step5
Fold the top edge of the top sheet and blanket down one inch.
Step6
Change the pillow cases and put the pillows at the top of the bed.
Step7
Center the comforter, smooth it over the bed and cover the pillows. Push a small section of the comforter under the pillows for a crisp look.

Clean the Main Sleeping Area

Step1
Put old linens into the hamper on your cleaning cart.
Step2
Vacuum the floor and dust the furniture.
Step3
Set the remote controls, note pads, phone books and Bibles in the proper location.
Step4
Disinfect the telephone receiver and wipe down the buttons.
Step5
Gather all the trash, empty the trash cans and replace the trash can liners.
Step6
Clean any extra areas the room might have, like a mini-kitchenette or Jacuzzi.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean the bathroom regardless of whether it looks used or not.
  • If a person is staying over, you can lightly refresh the room rather than changing all the linens.
